Rajasthan,
which literally means the Lands of Rajas, is one of the Indias largest states. A study of the Rajasthan state as a
whole or in part has so far received little attention from both social and
biological scientists. To understand the heterogenous
society of the state there is a need for a holistic approach involving
environment, socio-cultural factors and biological variables; such is the
attempt made in this volume which contains thirty five papers contributed by
a cross-section of leading social, biological and environmental scientists
and researchers having a first-hand experience of studying Rajasthan.
