ABSTRACT The study deals with the child’s socialization through play among 2-4 years old children. The sample comprised of sixty children drawn from the childcare and early educational settings. The study reveals that the parents despite their education and lesser socio-economic constraints are not appreciating the role of play materials in socializing their children. The lack of appreciation seems to emerge from lack of knowledge about the role of play materials in the optimum development of children
